Jewish Federation & Family Services - 50 Extraordinary Years

JFFS To Welcome New President & CEO, Arlene Miller

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Arlene Miller as the new President & CEO of Jewish Federation & Family Services, Orange County; she will begin her position on July 1, 2016.

Arlene Miller comes to Orange County after an extraordinary 5 years as Chief Philanthropy Officer of Shalom Austin, an association of organizations that includes the Jewish Federation of Greater Austin, Jewish Family Service, the Jewish Community Center, and the Jewish Foundation of Austin & Central Texas. There, she led the launch of the Jewish Foundation of Austin & Central Texas from concept to reality, and deepened relationship building and donor engagement as the core principles of the community’s financial resource development strategy, among many other successes. She returns to California, the state where she began her career as a Jewish professional with Hillel nearly 18 years ago. Miller has earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, donors and volunteers throughout the country.
The CEO search began several months ago with a comprehensive and inclusive set of consultative discussions by the JFFS CEO Search Committee with key stakeholders and constituencies within Orange County’s Jewish community, and with important individuals in the broader Orange County community. The result of these consultations was a community consensus on the job description of the President & CEO. The Jewish Federations of North America Mandel Center for Leadership Excellence managed the search process, in which over 50 candidates were identified. A subset was reviewed by the Search Committee, who ultimately interviewed six candidates in person. Of those, the Committee selected two finalists for the position, both of whom were considered equally well qualified. Visits to Orange County were arranged with both finalists for a series of meetings with many of the same constituencies involved in the development of the job description. The Search Committee considered all input developed from these meetings and confirmed their recommendation to the JFFS Board of Directors to offer Arlene Miller the position of President & CEO.
At this time, we extend our profound gratitude to Dr. Lauren Gavshon Brand for her exceptional leadership as JFFS Interim President & CEO over the past 10 months. Over the summer, she will transition into a new role as Chief Operating Officer for JFFS, allowing her to continue contributing to the organization as an exceedingly positive and efficient executive.
We are delighted to have selected Arlene Miller, an excellent and collaborative leader with the experience, personality and strength of character to pilot JFFS into a very bright future. We will be planning opportunities for the community to welcome and meet her, and we will share more details about this in the coming months. In the meantime, we thank you for your continued support of JFFS, especially as we enter this exciting new chapter, so that we can fulfill our mission to care for people in need, to build a vibrant community, and to sustain and enhance Jewish life. Together, we do the extraordinary.
Sincerely,
