Tragically, this weekend another natural disaster hit the U.S. – impacting the entire state of Florida and reaching into Georgia. Hurricane Irma caused widespread damage and flooding, and left more than 10 million people without power. Residents and communities are just now beginning to return to assess the damage. While we are still in the process of gathering information about short- and long-term needs resulting from this latest storm, we have now created a relief fund for the victims of Hurricane Irma as well as victims of all 2017 hurricanes. You can donate HERE.
Regarding the Jewish Federations of North America Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, more than $10 million has been raised – which is one third of the estimated $30 million needed to rebuild. These funds, from federations, foundations and the Government of Israel, are already being put to work. A fact sheet with some preliminary information about how we are helping the Jewish community in Houston is available HERE.
Thank you for joining us in showing that Jewish Orange County cares for people in need, near and far, in times of crisis.
