JFFS NextGen Wins California Nonprofit of the Year Award!
Governors Volunteering & Service Awards photos
Last Thursday, April 7 in Sacramento, the State of California presented the 2016 Governor’s Volunteering & Service Awards to honorees that have gone above and beyond in the world of service and volunteerism – and JFFS NextGen was awarded the prestigious California Nonprofit of the Year Award!  The award honors “a California nonprofit that has shown an extraordinary ability to leverage volunteers in service to their organization.” JFFS NextGen was recognized in large part due to Tikkun for Troops, a remarkable community project – undertaken in collaboration with Operation Gratitude, JCC Cares, and Tarbut V’Torah Community Day Schoolthat brings together hundreds of volunteers to assemble thousands of care packages for U.S. military service members deployed abroad.

What makes this award even more special is that we were nominated by Major Aaron Schilleci, a NextGen board member currently serving in Iraq, who was able to attend last week’s awards presentation by videophone. NextGen Board members Ally Mars and Katerina Hencova, Manager of NextGen Stephanie Epstein, and JFFS Board member and renowned community leader Blossom Siegel proudly accepted the award on behalf of JFFS.

The next Tikkun forTroops takes place June 5. See JewishOC.org/Tikkun4Troops for more information about how you can volunteer or donate items.

Kol HaKavod (“Well done!”) to NextGen on this phenomenal and much deserved recognition! What an extraordinary source of pride you are for JFFS and our entire community.
