The Rose Project partners with the University of California, Irvine, to bring Israeli scholars and artists to campus for guest lectures or to teach courses in their respective fields. These engagements bring a unique, first-hand perspective on Israel to the campus community and build personal connections among Israeli educators and UCI faculty and students. Through education and the exchange of ideas, we are creating greater understanding of Israel based on truth and shared values that leave a lasting impact on individuals and the climate for Israel on campus.
Our scholar this year, Professor Menachem Hofnung, is chair of the Political Science Department at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Among his many prestigious accomplishments, he was president of the Israeli Law and Society Association and the Israel Studies Association. He is an expert on Israeli politics and law as well as campaign finance reform and religion and state in Israel.
In addition to teaching courses at UCI, Professor Hofnung will be available throughout the fall to give community lectures. Though he is extremely well versed on many issues, topics that may be of particular relevance include “The 50th Anniversary of the Six Day War: Implications for Israeli Security, Politics and Society.” He has also offered to speak on the subject of religion and state in Israel, and its impact on Israeli politics and Israel-Diaspora relations. There is an honorarium for scheduling Professor Hofnung.
If you are interested in scheduling Professor Hofnung, or if you would like more information, contact Lisa Armony.
