Event Speaker / Details: Bernard Behrens
Topic: Jewish Poland – Visiting and researching ancestry
Details: Bernard Nehrens was very lucky to obtain a copy of his family history in Poland that his great-grandfather wrote down when he was trapped in Łódz in Rus-Poland during the First World War.
Using this Yiddish manuscript, he was able to connect with family members in Israel, America, Canada and Europe. He has been working on piecing the Panski family tree together, off and on for the last 35 years. Bernard will speak of his experiences researching his family tree, and discourse on a short general history of Poland; Polish Jewry; and a few pointers about the Polish language, pronunciation of place names; and the influence of Polish on English, Yiddish and Hebrew
