Seleen Aynechi: SafeSchools

Seleen Aynehchi chose SafeSchools: Protecting Children in Israel as her mitzvah project for her Bat Mitzvah in 2010.  Seleen chose a shelter at the Amal School in Kiryat Malachi, Orange County's sister city in Israel.  Kiryat Malachi is a city of about 25,000 residents, and is home to Israelis of many ethnic backgrounds.  Learn more here!

 

Naomi Hyman: Lev LaLev Girls' Playground

For her Bat Mitzvah in 2009, Naomi Hyman worked with Jewish Federation to raise funds for Lev LaLev (Heart to Heart) which operates the Rubin-Zeffren Children's Home for Jewish girls in Netanya, Israel.  Lev LaLev serves some 100 orphaned and disadvantaged Jewish girls, and Naomi's project helped the school to build a playground and recreation area!  Learn more about the project here!

 

Justin Sass: The Mechina Program

For his Bar Mitzvah in 2007, Justin Sass raised funds through Jewish Federation for the Mechina Program of the Northern Negev, a training program in Orange County's sister city of Kiryat Malachi that helps young men from disadvantaged families gain skills, further their education and prepare for army service.  Click here to read more about Justin, his family, his project and the young people he has helped!
